I’ve been putting in a lot of hours at the keyboard every day, trying to get the sequel to Big Lake finished, and I was getting cabin fever. So yesterday I took a much needed day off.
Our friends Stu and Donna McNicol are staying at an RV park in Clermont, and we had not seen them in almost a year. Well, that’s way too long! So we met at a nice restaurant called the Oakwood Smokehouse, on U.S. Highway 27. It sure was great to see Stu and Donna after such a long time, and as happens with good friends, our conversation seemed to pick up right where it left off the last time we saw them.
We met at 1 p.m., our meal was nice, and since the restaurant wasn’t very busy, we didn’t feel like we needed to rush. Donna’s got a couple of book ideas she’s working on, and we talked about the e-book revolution, RVing, and a hundred and one other things. We had such a good time as we sat and talked that, before we knew it, four hours had passed! Wow, where did the time go? We decided we’d better get out of there before the manager put us on the payroll. 
Before we parted company, we stopped to admire Stu’s new Harley Davidson trike. What a nice bike! We’re looking forward to getting together with Stu and Donna again before we leave the area.
It was getting dark by the time we got back to the Thousand Trails campground, and several of the RVs had their Christmas lights on. Some folks really go all out, and our photos really don’t do them justice.
A while after we got home, our neighbor, Harvey Clayton, came over to pay for a two year subscription, and invited us to join him and his wife Bonnie for a visit. We sat outside and chatted for a couple of hours, having a good time as we got to know this friendly couple. They have never been to an RV rally before, and since they plan to be in Arizona later this winter, Harvey said they may join us at our Arizona Gypsy Journal rally in Yuma.
By the time we got back inside, there was time to have a snack, answer a bunch of e-mail, and get the blog ready to go. It was a nice, laid back day, and now I’m ready to get back to work. Big Lake is still riding high; yesterday we reached 21,000 sales for the month of December, and today marks three weeks that the book has been in the Amazon Top 100. I hope to have the sequel out by the end of the year, and I’m close, but I don’t want to rush it. I think books are like babies, when it’s time to be born, they‘ll let you know it.
